Americans Plan to Spend Same on Christmas 2011 as in 2010

Americans forecast they will spend $712 on Christmas gifts this year, nearly identical to the $715 they estimated they would spend on Christmas at this time last year. This flat spending forecast is significantly lower than levels seen for the most part prior to the 2008 U.S. financial crisis.
