Starting August 2, the inaugural BlackStar Film Festival will shine the national spotlight on Philadelphia by showcasing 40 films from 4 continents over the course of 4 days. BlackStar’s cinematic lineup is full of artistically brilliant, aesthetically beautiful and genre-defying films, including several premiere films, including Sonia Godding Togobo’s Adopted ID, Oliver Hardt’s The United States Of Hoodoo, Byron Hurt’s Soul Food Junkies and Being Bilal, the first episode of a series dedicated Philly’s favorite soul-man - Bilal Oliver.
